Conversations with Flowers

EXPLORE PAINTINGS

I create representational oil paintings of garden flowers and the insects and pollinators that visit them. Each painting begins in the garden through quiet observation, following flowers as they move through their natural life cycle. The conversation continues in the studio, where compositions are built one stem at a time, painted directly from life and allowing each narrative to emerge gradually. Learn more about my process →

Alongside my floral work, I've spent more than twenty years studying animal skulls and bones from life. These drawings and paintings look beyond documentation, contemplating the stories held within each specimen—a slow, quiet conversation between artist and subject. • detailed, realistic drawing of a leopard skull from a front facing perspective in white chalk and charcoal on gray card stock. The long canines can be seen hanging down, one is broken.

    Skull & Bone Portraits

My decades long passion project drawing and painting animal skulls and bones. Studies in form, structure, and time—contemplating the stories contained within each bone and skull.
